Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has emerged as one of the most transformative technologies influencing the field of public relations (PR). The integration of AI-powered tools such as chatbots, sentiment analysis, predictive analytics, and automated content generation has significantly changed how organizations communicate with stakeholders. AI enables public relations professionals to analyze large volumes of data, personalize communication strategies, monitor public opinion in real time, and improve crisis management. Despite these advantages, the growing dependence on AI also raises ethical concerns regarding transparency, accountability, misinformation, algorithmic bias, privacy, and the diminishing role of human judgment in communication. This paper examines the role of artificial intelligence in public relations by exploring both its opportunities and ethical challenges through an analysis of recent academic literature. Drawing upon the works of Buhmann and White (2022), Swiatek and Galloway (2022), Jeong and Park (2023), Seidenglanz and Baier (2023), and Mashiah and Avidar (2025), the paper argues that AI should function as a supportive tool rather than a replacement for public relations professionals. The study concludes that while AI enhances efficiency and strategic communication, ethical governance and human oversight remain essential to maintaining public trust, credibility, and authentic stakeholder relationships.
