Tracing Research Trends in Rural Tourism and Their Alignment with Sustainable Development Goals

Abstract

The research paper sought to analyse the importance of rural tourism in the development of the country as a strategy of economic development for the rural areas, the development of culture and the preservation of the environment. Thus, the aim of this paper is to provide a bibliometric analysis of rural tourism in terms of sustainability, phenomenal trends and thematic distribution in the current literature. There is a lack of comprehensive, data-driven studies mapping the global research landscape on rural tourism's impact on sustainability, highlighting the need for systematic bibliometric analysis in this area.
