Abstract

Married women healthcare professionals in developing countries encounter considerable challenges as they balance professional responsibilities with societal and familial expectations. These pressures adversely affect mental health and overall well-being, highlighting the importance of inner peace and resilience as crucial protective factors. This systematic review, synthesizing studies published between 2014 and 2024, reports a moderate positive relationship (weighted mean effect size: 0.52) between resilience, inner peace, and mental health.

Resilience is identified as a vital mechanism, helping individuals adapt to workplace stressors and overcome socio-cultural barriers. Inner peace serves as a mediating factor, alleviating stress and promoting greater life satisfaction. However, systemic barriers such as entrenched gender biases, inadequate workplace support, and cultural expectations exacerbate psychological distress and burnout risks among this population.

The review highlights the need for tailored interventions, including resilience training, workplace wellness programs, and community-based support systems, designed to address the specific challenges of resource-limited settings. Regional and methodological differences indicate the importance of culturally sensitive approaches in implementing these strategies.

Furthermore, the findings advocate for gender-sensitive healthcare policies that create inclusive and supportive environments for women professionals. Addressing systemic barriers is essential to fostering resilience and well-being, ensuring sustainable and equitable healthcare systems. This review provides practical insights for researchers, practitioners, and policymakers aiming to improve mental health and resilience among married women healthcare professionals in developing countries.
